Dr Mehmet Kizil is a senior lecturer in mining engineering and leads the mining engineering program at The University of Queensland. Dr Kizil played a leading role in developing and establishing the Mining Education Australia (MEA) program. Dr Kizil conducts research in the areas of:

    Barış G. Yıldırım, PhD Research Scholar – Previously board member of Pasinex Resources Limited, Horzum Mining Limited and Organik Madencilik. Baris Yıldırım is a geologist and minerals processing engineer based in Ankara, Turkey and has +10 years of experience in the mining industry. He worked as a geologist for Teck Resources in Turkey and managed multiple exploration projects. His work at Teck was awarded twice, as “New Discovery” and “Best Work Proposal”. As well, Barış worked as a process mineralogist for Teck Metals in Canada, and executed an integrated geometallurgy project between Highland Valley Copper Mine and the Teck research center. Barış has continued his PhD at JKMRC, as part of the Global Communition Collaboration Australia and he has seven technical publications.

    Professor Malcolm Powell

    Malcolm specialises in liner design, charge motion and DEM modelling, SAG mill modelling and control, classification and novel circuit design. He has developed a strong link between research and application by applying research knowledge to extensive site work and consulting to industry. He aims to link fundamental research into applied outputs through the development of practical and robust process models. Malcolm is an expert in mineral processing and his research interests include:
  • Comminution in mining
  • Mining
  • DEM modelling
  • Mill grinding equipment
  • Mill liners
  • Mining equipment and Flexible circuits
